Gold Egyptian Canopic Jars Set of Four 12cm High

These gold  canopic jars are a representation of the four jars used in the mummification process of ancient Egyptians. They were used for the storage of the internal organs; the Lungs were placed in the Baboon headed jar Hapy, representing North and protected by Nephthys; the stomach in the Jackal headed jar representing East and under the protection of Neith; Imsety the human headed God contained the Liver and was protected by the Goddess Isis in the South; the final jar - Qebehsenuef the Falcon Headed, contained the intestines and was protected by Serqet in the West. The heart however, had no jar, as it was believed by the Egyptians to be the seat of the soul and remained within the body for the journey to the afterlife.

These beautiful jars, are made from resin and are unique as they are individually hand painted, Set of four  250 kr Fri Fragt I DK
